Britain Marks Danger Spots In Event Of Air Attack
RAIL AND TUBE SYSTEMS READY FOR EMERGENCIES
London, Jan. 25.
Britain is frantically completing plans for defence against eventual air raids and gas attacks.
The latest link in this defence line is the organization of railroad transport and civilian evacuation of "danger 'spots."
In any war, railways are prize targets. Realizing this, the London, Midland & Scottish, one of Britain's four great railways systems, has begun training 23,000 of its staff of 230,000 em- ployees.
::
Already. 1,000 of the railroad's workers have qualified as first class instructors at the civilian anti-gas school at Falfield, Glou- cestershire, which was establish- ed about a year ago.

Within London itself, air raid pre- cautions are being made. In conjunc- tion with normal building activities. Regularly underground and subway statlons are being enlarged and im- proved-theoretically to cope with in- creased congestion during rush hours, but the builders oppeur constantly to painted yellow. As announced by railroad officials, these instructors will tour the country In a specially equipped train recently displayed in London.

MANKIND'S STRUGGLE
Broadly speaking, continued Sir Alfred, what had happened was that mankind was struggl.ng forward from economie Interdependence to social interdependence.
The Im mediate problem was to have enough order in the world to enable that process of social interdependence to take place.
Could it take place? Of course it could. There was no reason: in the nature of man, and in the nature of the forces at work, which provinted It taking place. One instance was the frontier between Canada and America.:
As he saw it, what we were flying through in Europe and the Far East to-day was a alsagreeable back eddy In that long process of increasing social interdependence between the different peoples of mankind.
