Battle Carried to Privy Council
Lahore, Jan. 20.
A lengthy dispute between Muslims and Sikhs over the ownership of a Mosque in Lahore has been settled by the High Court of India.
The Mosque
The Court dismissed the appeal of the Malims, who disputed a lower court ruling that the Mosque was owned by the Siginally belonged to the Muslims but became disused and was taken over by the Sikhs. By a majority verdict the High Court ruled that the Sliths became owners by virtue of their occupation of the Mosque for over twelve years.
The High Court minority maintain- ed that, as the Mosque was originally dedicated to Mohamed it should re- main a Muslim Mosque for all time. The case is to be taken to the Privy Council-Reuter.
