Before passing this on to the Honorable the Colonial Secretary I shall be glad to record my testimony

to the valuable and ready assistance which Mr Alves has always given
to the discharge of the clerical work of the Department. As
an accurate and neat copyist he is
invaluable, and he is zealous and able in the
discharge of such
particular duties as
may fall to him, sparing neither time nor
labour to perform them efficiently.
