An increase in kindergarten schools, properly equipped and staf fed, as n means to improve secondary schools in order to reach the ideal training of pupils spiritually, morally nd intellectually, was urged by Prof. L. Forster, of the University, when he distributed the prizes at the annual speech day of the French Convent yesterday."

A your of steady work, with an increase in activities and numbers, was reported by the Headmistress, Sister Henri, who hos Laken over the posl vacated by Sister Beatrice, who left after 20 years. Mention was made of her absence, and of the influence she had over the School.

Among the visitors present were Bishop H. Valtorta, Most Rev. Fr. E. M. Gillet, or, Superior-General of the Dominican Order, Rev. Fr. R. W. Gallagher, and Slaters from other Missions

PUPILS ENTERTAIN

Prior to the distribution of prizes, entertainment was given by the pupils. After "La Marselllalse" had been played, the pupils sang the school song, accompanied by Mr. Renald P. Ching. A recitation in French, "La Charlie" was then given by Miss A. Gency. Following this was a song and dance item entitled, "Dolls' Dancing Night." Mlases Fo- tricia Blackett, Margaret and Doris Pearce played the dolls, and Miss Norn Cook the fairy. Next came a plano duct by Miss P. Beck and Mrs. Ching.

The main entertainment was, a play of the Nativity of Christ. En itled "The Three Kings," It was in ive scenes, from the time of the arrival of the three wise men in Jerusalem until the return of the Holy Child with the Virgin

Mother and Joseph from Egypt, after their flight from Bethlehem from Herod,

The main characters in the play were acted by Patriela Blockett, Nora Cook, Margaret Peorce, Dorothy Laura Nolasco, Doris Pearce, Sandra Mont, Christina Kennedy and Mavis Goyns.
