Edwards, Junior Magis- Trate of the Central Magistracy, to- day conducted an inquiry into the death of Li Ling, 38, a prisoner in the Hongkong Prison, Stanley, who died in the prison hospital on Jan- uary 11. The Jury empanelled for the inquest comprised Messrs. A. Morse -(Foreman), C. W. Skeet, and A. C. Games.

Dr. G. L. Shaw, medical officer of the Prison said that he first examined the deceased on August 9 lust, and found that the man's condition was very poor. He was suffering from bronchitis, tuberculosis and asthma. Deceased

Ningpo, Jan. 18. Reports that Japanese troops have landed at Ninghal on the Cheklang. coast are denied in military circles.

An accident on Stubbs Road on December 31 led to the appearance of Cheung Shul-ting, lorry driver, before Mr. R. A. D. Forrest at the Central Magistracy this morning, summoned for driving without due core and esution.
