In view of the Japanese threat to the Tsining sector of the Lunghai railway front, Chinese forces, under the command of General Sung Cheh-yuan, former Chairman of the Hopei-Chahar Political Council at Peiping, whose troops are at present stationed on the Shantung-Honan

border, are rushing towards the east in support of the Chinese line at Tsining in order to prevent the Japanese attempt to cut the Lunghai railway west of Hsuchow,

General Sung recently attended a high military conference here and was one of the most enthusiastic and optimistic leaders at the conference regarding the future: outcome of the Sino-Japanese hostilities.

General Sung's forces at present total approximately 120,000 nen.
