you
i
that all ordinary steps, connected with the replenishment of the Treasury Chest, and the raising and use of Funds, on behalf of H. M. Treasury, are taken by me under the direct orders of the Lords Commissioners, without the intervention of the Several Officers in command, through whom none of the correspondence either with the Treasury in London, or locally on its behalf, passes - and that for that reason I have not sent the Applications for the Military Contribution through the Assistant Military Secretary.
I trust that this explanation will be sufficient and that the quarterly Contribution, which has been due since the 12th inst., will be paid in sufficient time, if possible to be credited in the Current month's Accounts.
(Signed) C. W. Moloney
Assistant Controller
