Treasurer accordingly upon receipt of
a direct application from Mr Treasurer Grebb for payment of the Militia
Contribution was directed to write
back to say that he had reason to believe it had been definitely arranged that all communications between the Military and Civil Departments should be conducted by direct
the Colonial
correspondence to and from Secretary and the Military Secretary. And though Mr Webb returned an answer to the effect that he was acting strictly in accordance with the Treasury
and War Office
regulation governed for his guidance
and also in conformity with War
Office.
