laughter and games-a jolly family party but we must remember that the party starts in the kitchen. This week, then, is a good time to give everything a thorough overhaul.
Making sure in advance that the cooker is in good order to cope with turkey and puddings, store cupboards cleared and tidled to make room for extra stores, pois and pans and other equipment up to standard, means that you can get the cooking done comfortably even though the kitchen is working overtime.
"Clear the decks" is my first maxim when there'n cooking to be dune. Drawers and cup- bourds have a way of becoming Oiled WALI olds and ends through- out the year.
Time can be saved if you clear them of every- thing but essentials, a that you don't have to rumninge when you want a special knife in Alurry.

Naturally the man or woman in question feels flattered at huy- ing made such an evident Im- pression, and so a pleasant basis is formed for future friendship.

Mental Stocktaking
When you have been intro- troduced, do a little stocktaking for future use. Make a mental note of the other's eyes, colour- ing, and height. Some people do this instinctively, others ap- parently do not take in anything beyond a blurred recollection of the
appearance. - general_ Practice, however, soon gels into the habit of docketing people and noting things about them.
