Canton, Dec. 22. Since Monday's reported batito ot Blas Bay, the six Japanese' warships have not shifted their positions, At night they had their searchlights on, flooding the shore. All guns have been silent.

The death has occurred at Reigate of Mr. Gilbert Walter King, former Judge of the Supreme Court, Shang- hal-Renter.
Mr. King, who was 66, began his career as assistant clerk in the Supreme Court at Shanghai in 1903 and rose to Registrar. After a period at the Foreign Office, he was called to the Bar in 1919 and was again in Shanghai as assistant Judge and not- ing Judge until 1931 when he re- tired. He held the rare distinction -of-being-both-n-solicitor-and-a-bar-
rister.
In 1925 he was awarded the O..E.
