The report of the Harbour Master and Director of Air Services in Hong- kong showed a general decrease in the amount of shipping using the port In 1936. 1935 the tonninge enter ing and clearing the Colony totalled 43,473,079, while in 1930 the total was 41,731,016, a decrease of 2,011,484 tons.
Foreign-going shipping entering and clearing showed a net decrease of 4,027 vessels nnd 1,423,814 tona, while local shipping showed a decrease of 1,157 vessels and 319,149 tons. British ocean-going showed a decrease of 470 in numbers with a a decrease of 507,247 tons, due to general trade depression, Foreign ocean-going showed a de-
ade crease of 430 in numbers with a
u com paritively small decrease of.

The junk trade showed decreases in munbers and tonnage for both foreign and local trade, which must also be attributed to the general depression. In 1935 imports totalled 23,168 vessels and 1.706,050 tons, and exports totalled 22,279
and 1,797,831 Junks tons. In 1930.
1930, Imports dropped to 18,862 Vessels and 1,552,199 tons, hile exports decreased to 19,637 boats and 1,619,015 tons.
