The Governor to forward for your information a copy of my letter of the 25th January 1875 to Colonel Bassane together with an explanatory correspondence between that Officer and this department.
I am also desired to inform you that until the Major General Commanding is pleased to sanction direct correspondence between the Control Department and the Colonial Treasury, the Officers of the latter will not be at liberty to pay attention to any letters which are not addressed to them through the proper channel.
