TITLE BOUT POSTPONED
JOHN HENRY LEWIS UNDERGOES OPERATION ON NOSE
London, Oct. 23.
John Henry Lewis, nogro holder of the world cruiserweight title, has to undergo an operation for nasal trouble, and it is reported from Pittsburg that he will be unable to undertake his proposed championship fight with Jock McAvoy at Wem. bloy next month, writes Joe Bromley,
My information is that the fight was not definitely fixed for November, and that so far as the negotiations in this coun- try are concerned, the operation on the negro will make no difference.
It means, probably, that the con- test, if it is definitely signed, will be delayed until the beginning of the New year.
Lewis was heavily punished in a fight last Friday, and it is thought that this aggravated an injury to the note which he received in a contest Just August.
Two bouts which had been fixed for Lewis, one with Hank Hankinson and the other with Arturo Godoy, have been cancelled.
NEUSEL IN DERLIN
Walter Neusel arrived in Berlin yesterday, and declared that he wanted to fight Max Schmeling and hoped the contest could be arranged at an early date.
He said that his manager was ne gotiating for a return with Ben Foord; ,but it was Schmeling whom he wanted for his next opponent.
