Professor Raymond Pearl, one of the greatest living authorities on the world's population, is not at all disturbed

by the falling birth rate in democratic countries.

"My Individual opinion," he told me of his West End hotel, "Is that the world's people would be much better off if there were fewer of them.

"The illitaristic caste, however, naturally wish to promote the growth of population for the supply of soldiers."
