When Dr. MacGregor Reid became 85 the other day he was asked to become prospective Labour candidate for a Glasgow divi- sion.
But Dr. Reid, Chief Druid, world-wide adventurer, founder of a trade union, student of Buddhism in Tibet, and revolutionist in Chile, declined the birthday honour.
"I have fought many elections," he said "but I have no thought for Parliament to-day.
"I was the right-hand disciple of William Morris, poet, artist, and humanitarian-the greatest man have over known... and to-day we want a return to his ideals."
Dr. Reid dismissed politics and talked of in lifetime of adventure.
