I am being belayed fun in his hand in the act of striking a third time. I wrenched the belaying pin from him and I was assaulted by him with another bullying fist in his hand, he struck me on the shoulder, making me use threatening language. Smith then appeared inside my chief officer's cabin with a levelling fist in his hand; he did not strike me but threatened me.
About 4 minutes after I was struck, the Doctor and officers of the Spanish Steamer "Marquis de la Victoria" came on board with armed assistance; this vessel lay on the other side of the landing stage. The Doctor dressed my wound and quelled the disturbance. I then sent the 1st Mate, Mr. A. Stafford, to the Spanish Frigate "Cervantes" for a guard, with an Officer who removed a boat at my request. - P. Battle, J. Amon, A. Smith, I. Gitters, S. Caldron, Mr. More, and me Gavan & A. G.
