I was then struck several blows on the right arm whilst trying to defend myself by calling for medical assistance from the Marquis de la Victoria, Spanish transport.
I came afterwards at the Master's request, on board the "Carmen".
I went and procured armed assistance of marine and sailors who removed the undermentioned men, viz. J. Cottle, J. Brown who struck the Captain, A. Smith, J. Gillens, S. Saldrow, W. More, A. Gnome, Aly. Masou eval, there were taken away in charge of the Officer of the "Carmen" at the Captain's request.
I found the Captain (Keating) wounded, the scalp laid open and bleeding profusely, also a contusion on the left breast, and we found a man belaying pin in the Captain's hand which he had wrested from the hands of Brown.
The remaining ... are still on board.
