The Court found them guilty and the 24 men were sentenced ... six calendar months. James Brown and John Cattle, John...Cattle to be imprisoned for six months with hard labour, in Victoria Gaol Wingting, and Nobel Smith to be imprisoned for three calendar months with hard labour in Victoria Gaol, though the said sentence to commence from the 2nd August.

The Court further directed that the balance of wages due to the seamen should be forfeited towards payment of their expenses and the costs of the Court.

I beg to enclose copy of the proceedings of the Court, also a copy of the condemnation, translated from the Spanish Authorities of Cavite.

The balance of wages due to James Brown is £5.19.7.430, John Cattle is £5.14.9.328, and Nobel Smith is £5.14.9.328, in debt to the Ship.

I have handed to Captain ... the money, requesting it be paid ...
