Mrs. Leslie Carter was an actress, born in 1802. She made her debut at the Broadway Theatre, New York, as Kate Graydon in "The Ugly Duck ling" In November, 1890; and up- peared Inter in musical comedy..

JAPAN'S COTTON PIONEER Mr. Molonosuke Fukumplo, former vice-president of the Dai Nippon the largest Spinning Company, Japanese concern of its kind, died Inst week. He was nt the age of 71.

One of the pioneers of the cotton Industry in Japan, Mr. Fukumoto contribute much towards its de- velopment in the country. He was the founder of the Amagasaki Spin- ning Company, the predecessor of the Dai Nippon Company.
