Following expressly the wishes of the Council, the Management Coni- mittee numinated twelve teams for each of the first and second divisions i which means 22 matches for each team instead of 26 as last season. In the third division teams will play 16 matches apiece, and there will be an extra game between the sectional leaders for the championship. Thus the league programme, at any rate, should be completed within reason- Council's order without disapable time and without the necessity,

London, Aug. 0. Leicestershire treated Hampshire in cavaller fashion to-day and won a two-day county cricket motel by nine wickets. Leicester's score of 404 made on Saturday proved altogether too much for Hampshire, who were sent back to-day for scores of 100 and 254. Leicester obtained the re- quired 32 runs for the loss of one wicket.
Berry was Leicester's leading run- getter, hitting up 153, and to-day Flamson bowled finely for the win- ners, taking G for 61 in Hampshire's Arst innings-Reuter.

contemplating league cricket on similar lines to that played In the North.
The county is rather alarmed for the future of its county XI as the young players have not come up to the scratch, and it is felt that league cricket would help to raise the standard of play.
