New York, July 20.

S. C. & F. Dow Jones Suminary of to-day's market: The market to-day in eight staged its second set-back consecutive sessions. The dceline," small and selling however,

Was mostly consisted of profit-taking Pressure was absent and the market displayed rallying tendencies. A note of optimism is centred on Tuesday's U. S. Steel report and there is some anticipation that a dividend wil be on the common shares. Steel paid on operations have improved and busi- good, but the ness forcensts are market is disturbed by legislative and foreign uncertainties. Stock: The market hus developed a somewhat easier tone, but there are no signs of any important realising. The Street is waiting news of U, S. Steel, the directors' meeting of which is scheduled for after the close of the market on Tuesday and the results of the meeting may give the market

mave.

its next

The technical renc- tion may assume somewhat broader proportions, but there seems no reason to alter our previously-expressed theory that stocks should be held. The Times business index for the week was 110.1 as against 109.7 last week and 100.5 for the corresponding week of last year.

Colton: There Was continued nervous liquidation with sporadic buy- ing on vague rumours of furtherance of Government loans and crop super- vising. The off-take was poor und there was little resistance to offerings. We think that considerable potential buying is awaiting any change in the crop outlook, which, however, is not yet in evidence.

Wheat: There was heavy hedge- pressure

Jess and liquidation on pessimistic crop reports from our North-West and Canada and on an increase in the visible supply of 20,500,000 bushels. The decline is inducing some export interest. The cash position is ensy and bull traders are apparently out of the market for the moment.

Corn: Mention of a possible erop of 3 billion bushels together with good feed-crops generally and shortage

of hogs and cattle for feeding are all depressing factors. There has been

visible decrease in supplies of 00,000 bushels.

Rubber: Apprehension concerning the ability of producers to meet the quotas is now subsiding. Buyers are hesitant and factory interest is light.

Sugar: The market, is very quiet and steady. Cuban covering is absor- bing September liquidation.

FOR SKIN

How would you

describe

the FLAVOUR of GOOD Whisky?

-said Johnnie Walker

Because good whisky, such as Johnnie Walker,

is really a blend of flavours, it is very difficult to find one word to describe it. The blenders have various names for the special characteristics of the separate whiskies used in the blend- "robust," "delicate," "malty," and so on. Some are chosen for a faint peati- ness, some for their "full" flavour-but all combine in perfect harmony or "roundness." The result can only be described as the distinctive flavour of· Johnnie Walker-one that you will appreciate as the flavour of Scotch Whisky at its very best. Always ask for Jabunie Walker by name.
