Visiting a friend for a night's stay, Pun Sau-fuis, aged 28, unemployed painter, absconded the next morning with a purse containing $1.40 Hongkong money, and $48 in Canton money. He was reen by his friend, Tsang Wal, in Yaumati yesterday and was arrested.

Pun was charged with the theft of the purse and money before Mr. W. Schofield at the Central Magistratey this morning, when he admitted robbing his friend.

Inspector A. V. Baker said Pun vlalted Tsang at No. 10 Spring Gor- don Lane on July 12, and disappear- ed the next morning. Tsong" found

his purse had also gone, and a chance meeting with Pun in a Yaumst! street brought about his arrest.

Defendant had used the stolen money to buy himself a gold ring, valued at $12, a wrist watch, valued at $7, a pair of shoes and a suit of clothing.

Only $6 and the purse were discovered on him.

His Worship ordered defendant to pay complainant $10 amends or serve 14 days' imprisonment, and sentenced him to a further six weeks' hard inbour, the terms to be consecutive.

A Chinese man, Sung Kwong-suen, 26, 14 in Queen Mary Hospital with a knife wound in his thigh, follow- ing an attack by two armed robbers in Upper Albert Road at 13,15 nm. to-day.
