IF

YOU'RE THINKING OF MAKING A WILL.

(Continued on. Page 2.)

But fortunately for a man's de- scendants there is in this country a limit to the lengths a person may go in the disposal of his belongings. A will must be made during 'a lucid Interval,"

Although he may appear normal in hin ordinary business relations and able to manage his general affairs his will may be set aside if it can be proved that some influence over him prevented him from exercising the same discrellon when making it.

If it can be proved that thin influ- ence produces an unnatural antipathy to his blood reintions they have good reason to contest his settlement,

The knowledge of this must be a great consolation to families who have reason to fear a relative's affection for a pet lap dog. It would have consoled the sister-in-law al Italian spinster who left her nothing.. but left £5,000 to 13 cats.

Rn

If a person cannot write, a cross will be accepted as a signature if the mark has been witnessed.

An impression of a thumb has even been admitted.

There Is also allowed as

plenty of choice

to the form of a will and on what it is written.

on

A Tennessee farmer once wrote his large Dutch cheese. A blind

mon was allowed to write his with

a series of punched holes in paper.

He disposed of £3,000 in this way.

Rider Haggard even imagined the will of

of a castaway tattooed on " native's back, and one man some years ago had his will tattobed on skin. This would present his own pretty problems when the time comes to deposit the will at Somerset House.

*

k

And if you have nothing to leave, the pleasure of making a will mny still not be denied

An inmate of a Chicago poorhouse -test a will but no property. Yet his

will was admitted to probute.

To child-

It was a will of wishes. ren he willed the flowers of the field and the long days to be merry in; to boys the fields to play in and waters to swim In; to lovers their

imaginary world with whatever they may need; to those growing old their memories; and to the aged the hap- piness of old age.

And what did he get? Surely the -happiness of making the will, of having one final wish allowed him, with no one to criticise and no one to hold his hund.
