Unsealing Gresford Pit EXPLOSION
ACTION URGED TO
FIND CAUSE OF
EXPLOSION
Wrexham, Mar. 1.
OFFICIALS of miners' organisations in North Wales
are dissatisfied with the report of the Commission of Inquiry into the Gresford colliery disaster.
Admitting that the report contains valuable sugges- tions for obviating future disasters they point out that none of the three authorities who conducted the inquiry has been able definitely to state where or how the ex- plosion occurred.
For this reason
many of them
be
will press for Ute reopening of the scaled-off roads in the pit no that Orst-hand investigation may mada throughout the districts which were involved.
Many of the bereaved families aro also pressing for reopening so that the 254 bodles still underground may be brought up and buried.
Government officials and repre- sentatives of the proprietors and of the men are to meet at the pit on March 6 for a conference on the re- port and these suggestions will then be put forward.
