Point Captain Hayes rowed himself on shore for the purpose of bathing. Directly he landed he was arrested by some Spanish soldiers - it is supposed that the convict who left the schooner gave information of what Captain Hayes was doing, which led to his arrest.
The convicts on board, seeing the soldiers place their arms in Captain Hayes' boat, with the intention of going off to the schooner, ordered Mr. Man, under threat of murdering him, to put under weigh at once, which was done. Mr. Man was compelled to navigate the vessel to Aricolong in the Pelew Islands and directly they got there the convicts landed and the natives then took possession of the schooner.
Mr. Man, the woman, and boy were fed and cared for by the natives, and after being at Aricolong about 4 months Mr. Man was able to communicate with Captain Holcombe of the American schooner Scotland who went to them, and after paying the natives for their care of Mr. Man, he left with them.
