Her Majesty's Ship Audacious, Hongkong, 28th April, 1876.

Mr. W. I. S. Cannon, Assistant Paymaster of Her Majesty's ship "Vigilant" having left that ship whilst under arrest awaiting trial by Court Martial on very grave charges. I have the honour to request your Excellency will be good enough to give directions that the Police of this Colony may make every exertion in their power to prevent his escape from the Island.
