EXPANSION PLANS READY TO BE
PUT INTO EFFECT Three Major Difficulties Now Removed
THE addition of several new, squadrons to the Far East Command of the Royal Air Force will be announced officially in the near future, a London source discloses.
Although the Far East Command is geographically the largest in the Empire its present strength is limited to the four squadrons based on Seletar.

Experts have expressed the view that at least squadrons are urgently needed to provide an adequate aerial defence of Singapore and Hongkong, and to protect British trade routes in the Far East.
Present plans, it is believed, provide for the establishment this year of at least one squadron at each of the following centres:
Tengah (Singapore Islaml
Penang.
Nicobar Islands (Bay of Bengal)
Kai Tak (Hongkong)
Pa Hu Gelg|ory}.
Later, more squadrons will be based at Sembawang (Singa-) pore Island), at various strategie centres in Malaya, and possibly | in Borneo and Burma.
