nffair who deserves all the praise that can be bestowed upon him. He is Mr. Ogilvic-Forbes, the British Chargé d'Affaires in Madrid, who volunteered to return from furlough to take up his post in the Spanish capital as soon as The Spanish altuation became really serious.
I strongly suspect that if he had given the word, British representation would have been withdrawn from Madrid when it became obvious that the siege of the city was to be long. netuous and dangerous. But the tradi- tion of the tiplomatic service is differ ent, and Mr, Ogilvie-Forbes lived up tait.
