The surfaces of floors which are concreted are to be left rough to form a key for thin coat about 1/2" in thickness of external portions of cement.

And cement coarse sand which is as clean as possible after sieving is to be applied as soon as concrete has been laid and while it is still wet.

This coat is to be well incorporated with the concrete by floating with a hand float, finished by being well trowelled to a fair and even surface. Traps cover the carp and floor are then laid in bays, the joints (where the work is finished for commencing) being on the centre line of piers - bay (running the entire length or width of the floor bay).

The commencement and finish should be within the day so as to form a continuous slab. The soffits of floor and roof to be rendered smooth with half cement and half sand, the soffits being well wetted before commencing.
