A scullery, with a separate cooking place which may be useful in dealing with cases of different kinds of food due to differences of race and caste, a London coal stove and small space for brooms are also provided and the entire department communicates with the main corridor by a door at the end of the verandah, thus while at the home there is easy access from the lanes.
There being no first floor, abundant roof ventilation is provided.
The Stores, which are also on the ground floor, consist of a rack for mattresses, battened shelves for smaller parcels – a bedding store with a central rack for office mattresses, side racks for bolsters and pillows and battened shelves for blankets – a store for spare clean linen, a crockery and utensils store and a miscellaneous store.
The provisionary staff for which quarters are provided is as follows: President, Lady Superintendent, Dispenser, ward maids and W.C. staff.
The Lady Superintendent’s bedroom is arranged so as to be available for the dispenser also. There are rooms for the nurses, some for duty and some for rest when off duty. For the head nurse and general use, there is a day or sitting room for the nurses. The whole of this department is shut off by a door across the passage from the rest of the building.
A separate bathroom & W.C. are provided for the nurses’ use.
On the second floor, separate quarters are provided for the hospital carriers’ quarters: a barrack room and a bathroom.
