WHILE reception of the
Test match broadcast through VK3LR, Melbourne, was only fair during daylight hours yesterday, and this morning there was excellent compensation in the good re. ception afforded by my re- ceiver (a Philco) last night.

means of a composite photograph, the "Tele. graph" is able to show to- day what Hongkong's new postage stamps will proba- bly look like.
These stamps will be is. sued shortly after the special Coronation issue next May. The Coronation issue will be of four de- nominations only, and will be on sale for only a few months.
They will be replaced by a new issue of all denominations. The design will be based on that of the old Queen Victorian is- sues, with a profile of His Majes- ty the King facing to the left. The

CHINA BUYS FIVE STEAMSHIPS
NEW EASTERN SERVICE
10-
CCORDING to information A
ceived by a prominent Chinese merchant of Hongkong, Chinese shipping interests in China have bought four steamers from the Bright Navigation Company of Eng- land for the Inauguration of a steam- ship service between China, Hong kong, Malayn, Netherlands India and Indo-China.
The four steamers have been named the Chi Sin (3,205 tons), the Kuo Sin, (about 5,465 tons) and the Chao Sin (about 4,920 tons). They were built in Britain between 1020 and 1023 for services between British ports and the continent,
These four steamers, which are reported to be on their way to Tsingtao for small renovations and alterations, have been acquired for a sum of over $2,000,000.
And so it goes on. The collector never knows," but he always hopes!
19-Day Effort To Restore Life
RE
Succeeds Oslo, Nov. 30. ELAYS of doctors and nurses applied artificial respiration for nineteen days to save the life of a fourteen-year-old girl of Bergen, Norway, who was suf- fering from infantile paralysis.
They only relaxed their efforts at intervals to give nourishment to the patient..
The girl is expected to recover.
Tin-opener Cooks And Men's
Misery
London, Nov. 24.
"O long as such a large number of women look on cooking as degrading, we must expect to suffer indigestion in all its forms," declared Sir Bruce-Porter, who had charge of hospitals in London and Mesopotamia during the war, when addressing the annual conference of the Wine and Food Society to-day.. Investigations at the London Hos- pital, he said, showed that the major- ity of patients were suffering from algestive troubles, most of which could have been prevented.
The methods of education in the schools," he added, "are largely re- sponsible for women's dislike of cook- ing. Housekeeping requires a higher grade of brain than the manipuin- tion of automatic machines or stand- ing behind goods the prices of which are already counters handling out
declared..
"If we could teach women that cooking is a fine art we would no longer be in the position of "having the best food and the
worst cooks in the world.
