NEW STEPS for

HIS month everybody's thoughts turn to dancing again. But, before the dance lovers think đế learning any new steps, they should spend several evenings getting back "into form." This really means looking for their faults and correcting them.

We all know; for instance, the dancer who bonds both knees all the time. She looks as if she is fighting her way through very deep snow, and her partner's legs probably get a fow bruises from knocking into them.

Wend the front knee slightly when you are taking a long step back, to keep the body upright.

At the same time the back

Good dancers wear shoes out all down the inside of the foot.

If you dance in the correct position, and make your body convey your legs, instead of trying to make your legs take your body along, then you are more than half-way towards being a good dancer.

IS YOUR ENGLISH CORRECT?

"SUBSTITUTE" AND "REPLACE"

These words are often con- - fused.

To "substitute" properly metus to "put something in the place of something else," not to "toke the place of."

Thus you substitute paper mune fur vold" and speak of "the substitution of paper money for gold." Wrong is to "sub- stitute gold by paper money," and "the substitution of gold by перет money."

The test is. Can you put the word "replace instead of "sub

" and "replacement" in- "of "substitution." If you cán, then your use of "sub- stitute" and substitution" is wrong, and "replace" and "re- placement" are the correct words to use.
