the trashermen's huts have been
annually destroyed
in the same manner
and over the same area as how
complained of, and for which damages
are
sought - and perfect and unchallenged rights of ownership by the Officers of the For Department, exercised up to the present
Neither does it appear that it was the opinion of the Colonial Government that
the cession of the land was completed
since they do not maintain that it is
the case in

replying to letters to you
of the 25th June and 9th July 1874 asking that the completion of the transfer might be brought about. In fact, their
agreeing,
under date 23 October 1874 that a
beacon or lockspit required to be made, clearly points to the opposite conclusion viz :- that they
did not consider it to have been effected.
With regard to the stone marked X
referred to, as having been reported to His Excellency the then Governor, as fixed on 29th October, 1869, I can only say that this stone is not known to me, or to any
one in the Department here, whether I find any data or records as to its position, and it would therefore be very desirable that it should be pointed out
to me by an officer of the Colonial
Government as soon as convenient.
Nevertheless, in case this stone is
found, I respectfully submit that the
erection of one
of one stone at the End
