those made last year. was made for the aid of an Inspector of Police, to the Captain Superintendent of Police, to prevent any breach of the peace being committed, but not to assist in the definition of the war Boundaries.

Department on the 13th inst., the encroachments on Lands were then found standing on War Department and removed pursuant to notice, by a party of Royal Engineers accompanied by an Inspector of Police who happened to be the same officer who had acted in this matter last year.

An application through His Excellency the Major-General Commanding for the aid of the Police (which aid had been after some correspondence granted by the Colonial Government) having been put forward by me last year it did not appear necessary to go through the same course in an emergency exactly similar this year also, and hence the application was made direct by me to the Captain Superintendent of Police for the assistance of an Inspector and Constable.
