There are Brith ears which could have won every single prize in this Alpine Trial, of that I am quite sure, But they will not this year, though all honour is due to the private owners and the two manufacturers who have "shown the flag" in this year's event.
After all, a car that is perfectly all right for ordinary main-road motortre is a better machine if it won't boil s 5,000 feet, climbs passes easily and quickly, has ample steering lock for hairpin bends, and will descend 20 miles of winding slippery road safely and surely. Prove the world that we build cars like this and work znies are ours. But we've got to prove 11.

upon which I have spent many "happy hours, and-one-with-which I have hitherto considered myself well acquainted.
To-day, however, it has played a prank on me and shorn me of over- reaching pride. This morning we elimbed out of Borrowdale and up the sleep flanks of Combe Gil to the wish- ful ittle Tarn at Leaves, which lies hidden in a hollow between Bossyboot and the ergs of Rosthwaite Fell."
