I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of your letter No. 299 of the 7th instant respecting the proposed new road, and the ground south of it which the War Department is about to cede to the Colony of Hong Kong.
In your former communication of the 8th instant you intimated that His Excellency the Governor would be glad to know if Major General Honorable I. G. Austin Esq., Colonial Secretary.
