he had proved to be a worthy suc-. cessor to Mr. Kent.

The I. G. P. said he felt sure all present shared his regret that In- spector Alexander was going away, and he asked Inspector Alexander to convey

Mrs. Alexander and family, their very good wishes for happiness, health and prosperity in the Old Country,

20.

Mr. King then presented Inspector. Alexander with a beautiful radio sot with an inscription in silver rending, "Presented to Inspector C. F. Ale- xander by the Members of the Police the Recreation Club, Hongkong, on occasion of his retirement, September, 1930." Another gift took the form of batsman's wicket on the cricket Beld, made in silver, and set on a blackwood Bland. The wicket was complete with bails, n bat rusting against it, a ball and crease. The inscription read, "Presented to Alec by his team on his retirement, 1936." On the left were his Club bowling records for the years 1020, 1927, 1020 and 1934. On the right were his Club batting averages for the years 1920-3, 126, 1927 and 1930.

Continuing, Mr. King appealed to inspector Alexander to get some more members of the Force interested in crickel during the short while he re- mained in the Colony, He then read sonte very amusing verses entitled the "Budding Criclisler," taken from the Manchester Guaritian which aroused much laughter..

Mr. King then made u third pre- sentation to Inspector Alexander, at cut glass rose bowl. In making the presentation, he said he felt sure Mrs.) Alexander and family were included in the gift.

The I G. P. then called, on the gathering to rise and drink to the headth of the retiring Inspector, which was done with musical honours, fol-| lowed by three rousing cheery and a "Uger."

Huspector Alexander's Reply, Inspector Alexander thanked Mr. King very much for his kind words, [ which he felt he did not deserve. Regarding the question of football, it was true that the Police won the! Shick in 1920.. He hoped that next season the Police would wh
