:stones as shown upon the War Department Boundary plan, and the boundary lines between them, were inspected : the Southern boundary
Jest contour was not actually walked over as in the absence of boundary stones thereon, and owing to the rugged nature of the ground it would be impossible to do so. but the South East and South West boundaries formed by the streams on those lines were inspected a considerable distance up their respective beds beyond the places where the boundary stones are fixed. and in passing from one to the other

Stones a close Examination by the E/E was made over the range of hills which can be readily seen up to and in most places for beyond the 500 feet contour to
ascertain that no encroachment had
been made on that portion of the War Department Lands. I might further
add that I have now been in the Colony upwards of seven years and have made seven perambulations of the War Department lands in the same
manner as herein described
