"Doctors Too Busy

THE marshalling of medical services all over Britain for a nation-wide attack on disease was foreshadowed by Sir E. Farquhar Buzzard in his presidential address to the British Medical Association at Oxford.
Declaring that the war on disease had to to new hemm Conducted On wasteful and l-organised system. Sir Farquhar envisaged the creation of health centras" in each district from which would he controlled all the medical ser. vices in that area.
He also suggested the provision of a central training school for men and women anxious to devote their lives to medical re- search.

DOCTORS OVERWORKED
In his speech Sir Farquhar said: "The chief law in the medical service which has evolved in this country dur- ing the last century is lack of time. Both general practitioner and con- sultant, to earn a living wage, are obliged to undertake far more work than they can deal with efficiently.
"The day has passed when any doctor can legitimately pretend to <arry on as an isolated unit ready to meet all the requirements of lits patients.

Now, finding that by August their legs are still winter-white, women are covering them in golden-brown silk. Not even the spartons can claim that legs mottled, mud-splashed, and bristling with goose-flesh have charm.
Fashion, too, is beginning to realise that the athletic strain which brought women in shirts, to the sea fronts shorts, and down-covered legs lacks the attraction-of-feminine modesty.
