London, Aug. 18.
The consumption of electricity in Great Britain continues to increase at very rapid rate.
The Inst annual report of the Cen- tral Electricity. Doard stated that ex- pansion in this country since 1020 up to the end of last year and been 70 per cent, compared with an expan- sion in world output in the same period of 20 per cent. In the first seven months of 1935, there has been an increase of 18 per cent, over the total at the end of last year, and the aggregate increase over the past two years amounts to 30 per cent.
As a result of the remarkable growth in demand, the Central Elec- Irtcity Board is having to hurry on with the scheme for an extension of the "grid systema mtional system of transmission lines linking supply stations and co-ordinating lend.
Estimates of future consumption of electrielly made in 1920, at the time of the inception of

system, allow ed 385 units per head for the present years, but In consequence of the great increase in industrial activity and the rate at which demand is running, it appears likely that an output of about 430 units per head will soon be re- quired British Wireless.
