THE story of Cocos Island adventures in search of hidden treasure was told in the London Bankruptcy Court recently at meetings of creditors and shareholders in the compulsory liquidation of Treasure Recovery, Ltd.
Mr. J. Barwick Thompson, Official Receiver, said the company was formed in 1933, with capital of £57,244.
In 1934, a steam yacht was chartered and sailed to the Cocos islands to search for treasure.
The Costa Rican authorities, however, ordered the removal of the expedition to Puntarenna, where they remained under "open arrest." being eventually returned to England. The cost of that exlition was estimated at £11.792.
