I presume that Lord Carnarvon will agree with the decision not to reduce the Crown rents generally, but to place the tenants of Marine Lots on the same footing as regards length of lease as other tenants of Marine Lots. But it would be vain to suppose that such a decision will settle the question. If, as is said, the value of the lots has fallen 50 percent, it is not to be supposed that the tenants will go on paying in perpetuity the rents they agreed to.
