This striking declaration made in London by Sir Richani Gregory, distinguished astronomer and editor of Nature, in an address to members of the Royal Institution.

"In so far as science has brought about increased control over the forces of nature, it accepts responsibility for theso conditions.
ECONOMIC SYSTEM WRONG "It insists, however, that such de plorable consequences are not essen- tal, but are due to the neglect of the application of selentine methods to the solution of social problems. "Our distributive” and
economic system remains on the basis of a pre-selentle age, wholly unadjuni. ed to the needs of a changing world, and unable to bear the burdens of new and almost incredible abund ance."
