KOWLOON DOCK ACCIDENT

A nasty accident occurred at Kow- loon Docks shortly before 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon, resulting in n Jabourer receiving severe injuries. He is now in the Kowloon Hospital, where his condition is reported to be fairly serious.

It appears that the plan, named Wong Sin, aged 32, a coolle, living at Wuhu Street, was working as paint-scraper when he fell from the staging on the side of the N.Y.K. ship Helyn Maru between the ship and the wharfside. He was crushed between. two large wooden fenders.
According to a police report, Wong Si fell into the water. He was brought up to the wharf where it was found that he was suffering from injurles-to his hip and right foot, An ambulance was summoned and the Injured man was removed to The hospital.

Operating on methane gas derived from a sewage disposal process which in turn is activated by the engine, the Ford V-8 motor, has achieved some-
thing resembling perpetual motion. The engine is in regular daily use at the Greencastle, Indiana, sewage dis- posal plant,
The V-8 engine serves two funt- lons hi the plant. Power from the engine drives an air blower supplying oxygen to the aération basin where bacteria are propagated. Further, heat from the engine's cooling system is used to keep the septle tank at a temperature favourable to bacterial action. Under the conditions thus induced, the bacteriu become active, resulting incidentally. In the formu tion of the methane gas. The gas, in turn, is piped to the air intake of the engine where it is diffused with air before it enters the motor.
The engine has been in successful ortion since March 1 1935, using the methane gas exclusively as fuel.
