Although ` dugonts are not recommended by the Hongkong: Anti-Gus Committee, owing to the fact that poison gares seck the lowest · possible level many houses contain a space for a suitable refuge room. Where gardens are avaliable, it is fairly easy to lig an effective, "dug- out," provide it with gas-locks, and make it large enough to accommodate the whole household. It has been found that, in roosas of normal height, an allowance of 20 square feet space for each person will enable people to remain in a sealed gas-proof room without ventilation for twelve hours, The British Government propose to issue simple but effective gas-masks free of charge to all persons in areas exposed to danger in the event of on air attack.
