Under the Law as it now stands they cannot. Usually Judges can intervene only when their action is sought in due course by suitors. I would require legislation giving powers such as would probably not be sanctioned to enable them to remedy such a state of things.
7. I submit that these three Offices should be filled by persons entirely free from the control of the Registrar but that the Registrar should audit and pass their accounts, the whole to be under the general jurisdiction of the Court. I would further suggest that although the Secretary of State is the best person to decide whether the public service has suffered by the appointment of Mr. Alexander. He proved himself to be a most valuable member of Council for his ability and very long experience as an L.C. and M.E.C. yet there are strong objections to the Registrar of the Supreme Court being appointed a member of those bodies.
A hypothetical case unlikely to arise. A Judge of the Supreme Court has at times to attend an Executive Council.
