Aceticanhydride in quantity sufficient to manufacture the world's legitimate requirements; of heroin from thirty to sixty- fold, was imported into China] during 1935, according to in- formation laid before the Opium. Imports of this chemical during 1935 totalled 21,900 kilos.. of which 26,700 came from Japan.
This total did not include amounts) of the chemical entering Ghim clan destinely.
The American representative, Mry Fuller, added that manufacture of the chemical had begun in Shanghai in 1935, by a plant with a potential out- put of 250,000 kilos, a year. The le gitimate commercial demand in for aceticanhydride was almost existent, he added.
