before the Ordinance of 1845 constituting the Supreme Court here was passed. In that year he was appointed a clerk on that Court. Deputy Registrar in 1850 he became Registrar in 1856.

He has thus acquired a familiarity with the business of the Court so as to be able to refer to precedents of such details of practice as it is the duty of the Registrar to remember and furnish to the Judges.

I am glad to take this opportunity to acknowledge fully the valuable services of Mr. Alexander. His long experience has given him a familiarity with the whole business of the Court in all the varied details of practice which has been of great assistance to the Judges in the discharge of their duties.
