9. In offering the following suggestions I assume that Your Lordship will concur with me in the expediency of paying officers fixed salaries instead of the system which has hitherto prevailed of paying both these officers partly by Fees.

The late Mr. Alexander held the following Offices, namely: Registrar Supreme Court Registrar Vice Admiralty Court Official Assignee in Bankruptcy Official Administrator of Intestate Estate Official Printer. And the Return marked A will show the amount of salary and fees received by him from the year 1865 to 1895 inclusive.
The Return marked B. shows the amount of fees received by all Officers of the Supreme Court for the same period.
The Return marked C. shows the average salaries and emoluments received by the Registrar and Deputy Registrar from 1871 to 1895 inclusive, namely: £1490 and £811, respectively.
