London, Apr. 14. Anxiety in art circles is increasing with regard to the unfety of the P. and liner Ranpura, now on the rocks off Mayorga, the north-west extremity of Gibraltar Bay with a rough sen running, and £10,000,000 of Chinese art treasures aboard,
These treasures, which could never be replaced, wern lent by the Chinese) Government for an exhibition In Lon- don, and they are being returned after a most successful showing at the Re- yal Academy-Reuter Special.
WEATHER IMPROVES
Gibraltar, Apr. 14, The dockyard tugs have suspended refloating operations and left_the Ranpura hard and fast to-night. They will resume work at 6 n.m, to-morrow. The wonther is improving slightly. Passengers who were stranded in the liner have now been anfely land- el, together with their fuggage.
It a tenrned on good authority that the P. and O. liner Barrapool has been instructed by wireless to change her course and proceed immediately to Gibraltar for the purpose of taking aboard the Chinese art treasures, which the stranded ship was deliver ing to Shanghal-Router.

Rome, Apr. 14.
It is understood that Signor Benito Mussolini, the Italian Dictator, has decided to defy Great Britain's and the League of Nations' efforts to dictate Italo-Ethiopian peace terms. Information from all quarters indicated that Il Duce would insist upon pursuing a relentless drive into the heart of Ethiopia unless he obtained terms tantamount to complete capitulation and permanent Italian domination of the state.
It is lutimated that Signor Mussolini will even refuse to. discuss peace terms, while there is still the possibility of Britain asking for severer sanctions against Italy unless Rome shows its readiness to cease hostilities.
Italian quarters are convinced Signor Mussolini is ready to ask the country to resist "to the death" any coercion.
Italian sentiment has stiffened and Signor Mussolini himself believes the sanctionist front is disintegrating, so that the imposition of new League penalties would be impossible.
Italy's oil reserves have been heavily increased since December, so that oil sanctions would have no very serious effect upon the country's Dghting strength. It is said that Signor Mussolini
is less concerned over the Issue than he was in Decem-) ber. London, Apr. 16.
